Two poems
Taylor Graham

|
Took Him Out to the Ball Game
who used to quote statistics
nods his head too heavy
for his skinny brittle neck
can’t keep track
who’s on 3rd base
remember famous faces
far-off under lights.
Caregivers never know
the score. He’s propped
between. In the end
the Angels always win.
After Visiting Bennie
The comfort of an armful
of dirty laundry
in a messy house
and no one dying in bed.

Taylor Graham is a volunteer
search-and-rescue dog handler in the Sierra Nevada, and helps her husband
(retired forester/wildlife biologist) with his field projects. They are dealing
with ailing/aging friends, relatives, and neighbors (not to mention the people
they search for with our dogs), and they hope to never grow old.
