  Perfect Storm

Robert A. Neimeyer

Again it comes,
the unwelcome news of change.
The secretaries, enthralled by Sartre,
cast faculty into nothingness,
by erasing the one small niche of being
that tells us who we are.
The departmental mailboxes
are left nameless, contorted,
like those on a rural highway after the twister.
